Dubai is preparing to launch a pioneering air mobility system that will redefine urban transportation starting in 2026. The city’s first fleet of electric air taxis, developed through a partnership between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and specialist aviation companies, represents a decisive step toward a more efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced mobility model.
The project includes the implementation of the region’s first vertiports, strategically located across key areas of the city. These hubs will enable rapid take-off and landing for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOLs), connecting high-demand zones such as Downtown, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai International Airport. With the capacity to significantly reduce travel times, this system aims to streamline journeys that currently take up to 45 minutes by car, completing them in less than 10 minutes.
The new air taxis will be operated with zero emissions and minimal noise impact, offering a practical solution for daily commuters as well as business travelers seeking efficient transportation alternatives. The service will be accessible through a dedicated digital platform that allows users to book flights, check routes, and manage travel preferences.
For international investors and residents, this initiative reinforces Dubai’s commitment to staying at the forefront of global innovation. The introduction of air mobility is expected to further enhance the city’s infrastructure, increase connectivity between residential and commercial districts, and strengthen its appeal as a dynamic hub for business and lifestyle.
As the launch date approaches, Dubai continues to advance in its goal to build an integrated, future-ready transport network. The air taxi system not only reflects the city’s vision for sustainable development but also sets a new benchmark for urban mobility worldwide.
